DRIVEWAYS
First impressions last. This is why my favourite solution for paving a driveway is using cobblestones. Reclaimed cobbles have already been in the ground for decades. The surface worn smooth from the wheels of carts pulled by horses. The road departments rip these stones from the streets and lay tarmac. I'd much prefer to rip up the tarmac and lay these beauties!! Eight inches deep, these cobbles will create a beautiful first impression which will undoubtedly last.
A modern solution for a driveway or for a transition from one area to another, using similar products, is also possible. Modern cobbles are still cut in a variety of materials from Chinese Granite to Italian Porphyry, there are a great range of colours and styles available. Driveways done in segmental arc pattern with a slurry grout finish are incredibly durable. They also provide a smoother finish than traditional cobbles, and leave a virtually maintenance free surface..
